What's New in dotio
dotio has had a busy few months. Version 1.5 brings iCloud sync and automatic progress protection, and recent releases added custom usernames, a redesigned leaderboard, 1,600 new puzzles, nine languages, win celebrations, and dozens of quality-of-life improvements. Here's everything that's changed.

iCloud sync and progress protection
Your progress now lives in the cloud as well as on your device. On iOS, streaks, stats and completed puzzles sync automatically between iPhone and iPad through iCloud, so you can start on one and carry on with the other. And if you delete the app, upgrade your phone or switch devices, everything restores by itself the next time you open dotio. No account to create, no sign-in, nothing to set up. Android progress is backed up with your Google account and restores on reinstall or when you move to a new phone.
Custom usernames
Set your own name on the daily leaderboard. Tap to choose a custom username or randomise one from hundreds of combinations. Your name appears on the global leaderboard, the podium, and in friend groups. Change it any time from the results screen.
Redesigned leaderboard
The daily leaderboard has been overhauled. A unified result card shows your rank, name, split times, and percentile in one clean view. The podium has taller bars, better contrast, and handles long names gracefully. The rankings list now collapses after the top 10, with a 'show more' option and your position highlighted wherever you are.
4,800+ puzzles
Over 1,600 new puzzles have been added across all difficulty levels since launch. The total library now exceeds 4,800 handcrafted puzzles across Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert. Every puzzle is solvable through pure logic with exactly one solution.
Global leaderboards & friend groups
Complete a daily challenge and see how your time compares to every other player worldwide. Your percentile ranking updates instantly. Are you in the top 10%? Top 1%?
Create a private friend group, share your code, and compete directly with people you know. Compare daily times, see who's on a streak, and track who conquers each difficulty.
Expert readability
Expert puzzles now use more of the screen, making cells noticeably larger on dense boards. Rule badges scale down proportionally so they don't crowd the domino values. Combined with the existing Show Numbers setting, Expert is now much more comfortable to play.
Nine languages
dotio is now available in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Chinese. The interface, settings, and help content are all fully localised.
Win celebrations & Ghost Mode
Completing a puzzle now triggers a confetti celebration. Ghost Mode challenges you to memorise the rules before they fade from view, available in Fade and Vanish variants.
Quality improvements
Faster puzzle loading, a smarter hint system that correctly handles rotated dominoes, improved touch responsiveness in difficulty selection, animation polish throughout, and reduced network usage with a streamlined analytics layer.
Update now
The latest version of dotio is available on the App Store and Google Play. If you already own the app, every update is free, as they always will be.
